First, I know that quite a few academics who visit here are thinking about blogging themselves, thinking about the potential for upgrading their blog, or thinking about integrating technology into their teaching in more productive ways. I want to note that I am actually helping with just those sorts of things professionally, and so if you have any interest in talking about things, please head over to Tea Leaf Media or drop me an email.
Second, I wanted to take special note of Christine Harold's forthcoming book, OurSpace: Resisting the Corporate Control of Culture. I have read the manuscript a number of times, and while I am not sure I agree entirely with the summary/teaser provided by the University of Minnesota, I can definitely recommend the book. It's due out in April, I believe, but it won't hurt for you to bookmark or pre-order it now.
Third, the Eighth Annual Convention of the Media Ecology Association will be held in Mexico City June 6-7 of next year, which means that now is the time to get your papers and panel proposals in (deadline is December 15th). A preliminary call is available in pdf here. I won't be attending, on account of timing and a one-year old, but as it's the first one of the conventions not held in the northeast United States, I thought people might want to know.
